Akis Petretzikis arguably Greece’s most famous chef and a national celebrity, winner of Greece’s Master Chef competition, owner of multiple restaurants and leading national television cooking shows as well as participating in various cooking shows around the world. Lezzat offered the following services:
The client lacked in-house Amazon experience. Amazon was a marketplace that they really wanted to be in in order to serve their customers, mainly Greeks of the diaspora, in the UK & EU. The Akis Petretzikis team had a wealth of marketing material and content (videos, photos etc) and wanted to utilize that on their Amazon store. They had tried to open an account but they found the verification process complex and abandoned Amazon as a result, until Lezzat reached out…
The client wanted to have their books available on Amazon EU & UK yet did not have the knowledge of how to do it. They required not only listing their hardcopy books (7 books in total) and a kindle version of one of their books but also pinpoint exactly the profitability of each in order to make it work.
After an in-person meeting with the client and their marketing team, Lezzat helped the client open their Amazon account, go through verification, photograph their books and list their products on Amazon UK, Germany, Spain, Italy, France & Netherlands all with local SEO optimization and PPC. Professional SEO optimized translations were key in order to help the books rank on Page 1 from the start. Review management has been key in obtaining reviews for their books and assisting with their increase in revenues.
The Lezzat team had to take into account the client’s brand tone of voice and characteristics. Also, doing FBM (i.e. the customer sent their orders from Greece to end customers in EU & UK) meant that the whole process of fulfilling orders and the respective costs was crucial to the success. The Lezzat team sat down with the client and outlined each step needed in order to get their products up on Amazon. The team first assessed images and content of the client before proposing the next steps.
Getting the right keywords was crucial in ensuring that the client’s books rank well on Amazon, not only in the UK but all marketplaces that the books were to become available. Placing the books in the right category was also important in order to maximise visibility of the client’s brand. In other words, some books were placed under BBQ recipe books and others as Mediterranean cuisine, all using Amazon best practice methods.
Once the books were up on Amazon and the client had been brand registered with Amazon the creation of their store took place. The Lezzat team followed the following process:
When the Amazon store was live the client showcased this to the whole internal team and supported this initiative via their social channels.
Training the Clients internal team was necessary to ensure alignment between the Lezzat team and the work needed to be done by the Client’s team when an order came in via Amazon.
The client has had a very successful Amazon store with a healthy number of books sold accross EU & UK with their book frequently featuring in the top 20 cooking books on Amazon UK & EU.
Selling books on Amazon is not an easy task. There is a lot of competition and from a technical perspective, it requires both seller central & KDP set up in order for it to work correctly. Product imagery also has challenges on Amazon as books have specific image requirements, which they need to abide by to appear as professional as possible.
